Happy New Year!

From Nikki:
Hey all! I hope you guys had a FABULOUS New Year's Eve. I've decided to take this opportunity to share a bit of our beginning of 2009 experience with the rest of the clan so I hope you enjoy my little rant

The four of us worked our butts off during the day to cook a super yummy meal (Well..okay..all I did was stir cream and wrap potatoes in foil..but hey, they ended up looking really pretty) Besides the baked potatoes we also had steak, mushrooms, creamed spinach and uh...well I have some pictures so you can figure out what else we had by yourselves. Dad made me take these to make you jealous, so here we go (sorry to those who have slow internet connection. I have a lot more pics)

Oh, I forgot to mention that it started snowing again last night. So you guys in Idaho will probably be seeing some of it today.

Isn't it preetttyyy??

Okay..where was I...Ah! More pictures. You better appreciate these, we went through a lot of trouble to take get these shots. Well not the second one obviously..although there was some argument (just the plates, a glass of wine, two glasses of wine. pssh, whatever!) But finding a place for the camera in the other two pictures took a heck of a loong time.

After dinner Ninang Kit felt guilty (she swears she's gonna start her diet today) and Alec and James just felt like..I dunno, being dumb. So here they are exercising. It was alot more entertaining if you were there, I should've taken a video...

Ya, James. You shake that booty!
So even after all that rigorous excercise we still had like an hour before zero hour so we played....CRANIUM! We played two games and we did adults versus kids. We totally pwned them! (Okay..we pwned the adults if the new definition of "pwned" is "lost to"...) But c'mon, look at this. We had one of those sculpting ones where you have to figure out what the person is making out of clay
What comes to mind when you see this? A piece of poo? A spiky slug? Well..out of all the words you're thinking of, I bet CACTUS isn't one of them!
*sigh* Oh well. We'll get them next time. Here are some more pictures..

Now you're all probably wondering "What is that stuff they're eating? It looks kinda like...."
Ya! You guessed it, for dessert we all had our own
Personal pizookies! Yummm...

Haha, yeah. They were really good. Thanks Mum.

And we come to the conclusion of my New Year's Day post. I hope you all enjoyed that, sorry if it was kinda long. As I was just telling John, the uploading speed was really slow, so while I waiting for the pictures to show up I just kept typing and thinking of what else to put. I think I was supposed to be making pasta for the party tonight..but this was more fun ^_^
So um...yeah...have a good year everybody!

  1. oh my gosh...SUCH AN EPIC POST! glad to know you guys had a great new years..i am SO jealous of your amazing meal! BUT - i bet i'll make all of you proud by sharing the fact that i actually helped my mom cook Scallops in Dynamite the other day, as well as okonomiyaki. and i only spilled food all over the kitchen once!

the exercise pics of ninang kit & toots are so funny. i feel guilty for eating tons too..but theres no point in fighting the holiday weight gain. and theres no point in turning down good home cooked filipino food!

can we please play cranium next family get together? i vote that the clay looked like a spiky slug.

and WHO introduced you to pizookies?? ;) those looked amazing...did u actually finish them?

    HAPPY NEW YEARS!

  6. Haha, sorry oldies, I thought it was adult-safe since my parents read it and were fine, but I guess it wasn't XD

Pwned is basically used when you beat someone really badly. But as I mentioned, that wasn't the case in our game. The adults beat us :( but it was only be one space!

The pizookies were really good and we (we meaning mum XP) will probably end up making some next time we all meet up. We purposely made more than needed this time around so that we would have extras after new years.
And yes, we definitely should play Cranium! It's so much fun. but someone else is gonna have to provide the game since we have the Family version which is easier than the normal one

  9. When did this party take place, and why wasn't I invited :( well at least, I got to try the pizookie even if it was 24 hours late. Well it taste just like the original pizookie that we all had at that resto in SoCal something like 5 or 6 years ago (During Mama Geny's 70th BDay)

To all my cousins, and extended family who are members of this blog thingy, get use to my mom (Your Ninang Kit) saying that she will start her diet. And always expect that it will never happen lol....

  10. *** haha p.s. kuya junjun i had to edit part of your comment out, just so we can make sure all ages and eyes in the family can read this :D we gotta keep it rated G cuz even Julia plans on posting lol

  11. Haha..um..this party was on New year's Eve after Church. I'm not quite sure why you weren't there..but there wasn't a huge turnout anyways Kuya Junjun. From your family it was just your parents and James

Oh..well now I wanna know what the post said..lol

  12. Alright then, since I got one complaint about my previous post being nasty and stuff / something that must not be read by Maddie or Julia, I'll post another one, that's more "G" rated.

I agree That clay thingy does look like ube ice cream. But IMO it also looks like a suman and a puto-bong-bong. :)

  13. oh my gosh i'm so ashamed to ask...what is a puto-bong-bong?

    cayenne "white-washed" ricafort

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm not 100% sure, but I *think* puto-bongbong is sticky rice and ube that's cooked in a banana leaf. And if my memory serves me correctly it also has coconut and a ridiculous amount of sugar on top. Correct me if I'm wrong ^_^

  15. Hmm Nikki hit it on the head. Puto bong-bong is that purple sticky thingy, cooked in a banana leaf, and then topped with nyog (Shreded coconut) melted butter and sugar.

Mama Geny usually brings that along with bibingka (Round yellow thing that has itlog na maalat / salted egg and cheese baked inside. topped with shreded coconut and melted butter). She usually buys it every sunday after hearing mass at that Church outside her house in La Vista.

Cayenne I think you should asks Ninang Cita to make you some bibingka and puto-bong-bong LOL!

  16. Ate Catherine, you're getting old. I feel for you. Really, I do, but sometime soon, I would suggest just looking up random "hip-youngster/what up dawg/duuuude like... duuuuude" stuff before reading the comments or at least sometimes soon, for the sake of you not yet another moment in time, naming yourself Cayenne "white-washed" Ricafort. Ohhhhh, how our senior years are creeping upon us.

Well, at least you still know what white-washed means.

I think I'm going to start documenting every "kid" thing that you forget under the document name, "Pwned bye memory triggers at long last." hahahahaha.

Am I a genius or what?
