Hey family!
So 2009 has been extremely eventful for me so far in DC, with Inauguration in January and lots of performances so far in February.
The month of January was absolutely nuts, as about 99999999999999999 people came to DC to see President Obama get inaugurated. It was by far the biggest Inauguration in history, and some people are saying it may have been the biggest single event ever in America. Millions of people were crowded on the National Mall (the big green lawn that stretches from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol Building), and all of the trains and streets were a complete mess. Before on the Inauguration, a bunch of my friends and I went to the Lincoln Memorial to see a free patriotic concert that included Bruce Springsteen, U2, Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Mary J Blige, Usher, and even a speech Pres. Obama himself!
I didn't get to go to the actual Inauguration Ceremony, but it was okay because instead I was working with a Japanese TV Station and helping them cover all of the events of that day. I carried this $10,000 tripod around DC to various filming locations, and even got to read Obama's Inaugural Address before it was delivered live!
The next weekend, I went to a basketball game where I got to see my favorite team of all time - the Phoenix Suns! My friend and I got lucky and were able to sit in the really expensive section for the final quarter of the game. Take a look at this sweet picture of Shaq I took!
Other than that, I've been very busy with performances, particularly with my a cappella group, The Capitol G's. I'll make another post about this later when I get all the videos posted, but basically we just performed at one of the biggest a cappella shows at Georgetown--just a year after me and my friend started the group! I'll more about this later...
Love you all!! Hope all this well :)

sooo jealous j..that inauguration was definitely a once in a lifetime experience!
ReplyDeleteand i didnt even know you got to go to a suns game...i can tell u had awesome seats for the last quarter from your pictures :)
Wow..I bet it was really cool to actually be there. We were watching the inauguration ceremony on TV during English class and we were all amazed at just how many people there were. Considering we live in Canada where the population of our entire country is less than the population of California, it's hard to imagine that huge a group of people in one place haha XD
ReplyDeleteWAIT...is that true? that the population is that small???? lol i guess that makes you as an individual much more important to your country than any of us here in the US
ReplyDeleteLol, yes xD It's not that surprising if you think about it actually. In the northern territories and provinces each one has a population of like..I dunno, 20 000? Haha..
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me of a quote by A. Whitney Brown..it goes something like..
Even if you're a one in a million type of guy, in China, there are still a thousand guys exactly like you
